Maddie’s Meadows Pet of the Week

Maddie’s Meadows Pet of the Week

Meet the fabulous Sassy. She will tell you herself how wonderful she is because she is a talker, but what she usually says is fill my bowl please in her raspy, old lady voice.

Yes, she is an older cat but she is doing fine and has a lot of love to give as long as you keep her supplied with her food. She longs to sit on your lap and be loved like the queen that she is.

If she is eating and another cat comes along and nudges it’s way into her meal, she comes to get Nancy and ‘tells on them’; Nancy will immediately go let the other kitties know that the food belongs to Sassy.

She does enjoy her naps next to the heater on cold days, too. Sassy would love to have an old person like herself to sit with and not have to deal with all these other critters.

If you are looking for a sweet, gentle old cat to hang out with and who will follow you around and tell you when it’s dinnertime, you should visit Maddie’s Meadows and check her out. You won’t be sorry.

Please call Nancy at (607) 768-6575 to make an appointment to meet her. During this holiday season we all get caught up in the spirit of Christmas and the business of preparing for the gift buying, decorating, baking and preparations to meet with family and friends. Nancy proposes that you also make it a family tradition to support those less fortunate. That includes the animals that have been left behind, abandoned, abused, neglected and the local shelters that try to make up the difference in any way they can for these unfortunate animals.

Local shelters like Maddie’s Meadows struggle all year long to rescue, feed, get veterinary care and then find wonderful, loving homes for them. Maddie’s Meadows has been in the trenches finding and trapping stray and feral cats; abandoned, orphaned, pregnant, injured, sick and lost cats for seven and a half years. Hundreds of kitties have been helped in one way or another.

Nancy also helps families that have cats that are struggling to provide the necessary care and housing. Nancy started partnering this year with a cat-loving, and kind-hearted carpenter to provide safe and warm housing for outdoor cat colonies. As you can imagine all of this costs money, a lot of money. Every year Nancy spends thousands.

There are a lot of supporters out there who give regularly with either monetary donations or food and cat litter and other miscellaneous donations. If you and others can find it in your hearts to continue or become a partner in the mission to rescue and find homes for these unfortunate cats, Nancy would like to propose you make much needed monetary donations to Maddie’s Meadows at P.O. Box 445, Owego, N.Y. 13827.

If you would prefer to donate food or supplies, the following are the products needed: dry cat food, Purina products (Complete or Indoor can be found at Sam’s club), wet food, 9 lives, Friskies (larger cans), Special Kitty at Walmart. Nancy uses horse bedding pellets for kitty litter. You can get that at Tractor Supply. They also get Temptation Treats, which they really love.

Donations can be dropped off at the Owego Pennysaver office during the month of December, or you can contact Nancy at (607) 768-6575 for pick up.

Also please consider adopting one of these precious kitties and give them a warm loving home and family for Christmas.
