Candor Historical Society presents ‘Remembering the Mill Stream Inn’ with guest speaker Phil Jordan

Join the Candor Historical Society and the Candor Community on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Candor Fire Hall as Phil Jordan reminisces about his time as owner of the Mill Stream Inn.

Throughout its history, the Mill Stream Inn has been known as a place “where old friends meet,” which became especially true following World War II. Over the years it continued to be a meeting place until it closed, and was torn down by the Village in 2009 after a side addition buckled, causing the entire wall to cave outward.

When Jordan took over ownership in 1981, the Mill Stream Inn’s décor provided a glance backward in time, acknowledging the people and events that had made it a landmark. In 1985, he reopened the establishment and renamed it Captain Catatonk’s Table.  Along with other specials of the day, Jordan included his popular Psychic Floor Show on Fridays, and would later form the “Psychic Awareness Club”.

Jordan, with his entertaining storytelling ability and sense of humor will no doubt warm the hearts of many, and have the audience wondering what they missed if they weren’t regulars at the Mill Stream / Captain Catatonk’s Table.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information on this and other Candor Historical Society events, contact President Milt Dougherty at (607) 659-7357, or email to Milton.doughert@gmail.com.
