Muench Orthodontics gives New York residents a reason to smile

Muench Orthodontics is preparing to change the lives of local children in need and they are asking the community to help spread the word. On Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon, Dr. David Muench and his team will be donating orthodontic care to local children through the nationally renowned Smiles Change Lives Foundation. Registration for the Smiles Change Lives open house event is currently open to children whose families are struggling to afford necessary orthodontic treatment.

“We are thrilled to be working with Smiles Change Lives on this,” said Dr. Muench.

He added, “To make a difference in a child’s health and self-confidence – it just feels great to be able to do that for someone who wouldn’t otherwise have this opportunity. That’s one of the many big reasons our Smiles Change Lives open house is going to be such an exciting event.”

Smiles Change Lives, a nonprofit organization, formed in 1997 under its original name, the Virginia and Maurice Brown Foundation. Virginia Brown grew up during the Great Depression, and her parents could only afford to pay for orthodontic treatment for one of their children. Virginia’s sister was able to get braces, while Virginia endured years of teasing and self-consciousness until she finally received treatment during high school. Virginia and her husband Maurice established Smiles Change Lives to help children today avoid the physical and emotional difficulties that Virginia suffered as a child.

To be eligible for the Smiles Change Lives program, children between seven and 21 years of age must be in need of moderate to severe orthodontic care, must have good oral hygiene, and cannot have any unfilled cavities. Additional information about financial criteria can be obtained by calling Muench Orthodontics.

Dr. David Muench is taking steps to make sure his Smiles Change Lives event is a fun and relaxing one for everyone involved. “We want this to feel like a celebration for the kids that we’re helping,” Dr. Muench stated, adding, “We hope everyone who comes out enjoys themselves.”

Muench Orthodontics is proud to be donating their time and resources to the local community as members of Smiles Change Lives. Dr. Muench is looking forward to the event and hopes to both plan and support more philanthropic events in the future.
