Apple Festival to offer a wide range of musical entertainment

A bonanza of music will greet festivalgoer’s at the 38th annual Apple Festival, held in Newark Valley on Oct. 6 and 7 at the Bement-Billings Farmstead on Route 38. Two stages, both under cover, will feature a diverse line up of musical groups throughout the weekend for your listening pleasure.

On Saturday, the Brackney String Band; Bug Tussle; Hammer, Pick, and Saw; Tom and Marie; Pat Kane; Triton Trio; and Rosetree will be featured.  

On Sunday, New Appalachia, Greg Neff, Hop City Hellcats, DnT, Tom and Marie, Hickory Project, and Melanie and the Boys round out the schedule.  

This year’s lineup of music will feature traditional American folk, Irish ballads, Bluegrass and Newgrass as well as Country, Americana, Blues, Rock, Gospel and Jazz; a full weekend of great music awaits you at this year’s Festival.

The Apple Festival is an exciting place for the entire family with lots of activities for children, delicious food, historic portrayals, vendors and historic displays. Watch blacksmithing, black powder shooting, open hearth cooking, apple cider and apple butter being made as well as other heritage skills being demonstrated.  

The festival takes place at the Bement-Billings Farmstead, just north of the village of Newark Valley, N.Y., and will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. Admission is $6.00 for adults, $5.00 for senior citizens, $4.00 students and a family rate of $20.00 per family (two adults and three children). Parking is free.
