Sarah’s Cause For Paws taking place on Saturday

Sarah’s Cause For Paws will be held at Hickories Park in Owego from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Pavilion #4, rain or shine.

There is free admission to the event, a one-mile dog walk around the park, a blessing of the animals, a K-9 demonstration, nail trimming from 1 to 2 p.m. for a donation, pet contests, basket raffles, and much more. A food truck by River Rock will be on location.

There will also be live music by Mathews Family Tradition, so bring your lawn chairs. 

The event is being held in memory of in memory of Sarah Jayne Orton, a young girl that loved all animals and lived her short life doing all she could to help and care for them. 

You don’t need to bring your dog to attend. Join other animal lovers and help raise funds for the Sarah Jayne Orton Memorial Foundation while having fun at the Park.

Sarah’s Cause Inc. was granted its own 501(c)(3) organization in 2017 and any and all funds raised now are distributed between local animal shelters in New York and Maryland. The Sarah Jayne Orton Memorial Foundation remains at the Baltimore Humane Society. The Oct. 6 event will benefit the shelter in Maryland, as well as Stray Haven, located in Waverly.
