For more than four decades, the annual St. Patrick’s Fall Festival has been a gathering place for residents of the Owego area and surrounding communities. This year’s event, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22 will be held at Blessed Trinity and St. Patrick’s Parish, at the entrance to 309 Front St. in Owego, N.Y.

JoAnne Murphy, co-chair of the event, commented, “There will be something for all ages,” adding, “Our goal is to bring the community together.”

Murphy explained that fest-goers would be delighted with the multitude of activities, live music and entertainment, along with superb food and refreshments.

The festival is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday evening, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the festival is free, with varying costs for food, refreshments and activities. Proceeds from the event will benefit the church.

Live music and entertainment kicks off Friday starting at 6 p.m. Featured music is Hot Dogs & Gin, a five-piece blues and rock band from Endicott, N.Y. which is a full-band version of the well-known father and son duo, Doug and Eamonn Hubert.

At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, “Making the Band” (MTB) kicks off the live music and entertainment for the day. A demonstration by Fairbanks Karate is in store at 12:30 p.m., followed by Trace of Grace Christian music at 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m., Rick Pedro will play foot-tapping classics on his piano, and at 4 p.m. Greg Neff will grab his guitar and sing easy listening tunes. At 6:30, Joe Hall takes the stage, and concluding the evening will be Tim Dowling and Friends at 7:30 p.m.

The annual Luminary Ceremony takes place on Saturday evening at 7 p.m.

Children will enjoy “Touch a Truck” on Friday at 5 p.m., and again on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. Also on hand for young people will be bounce houses, face painting, selfie photos, games and old-fashioned fun.

Don’t miss the Farmer’s Market with plenty of produce, craft booths and vendors, along with raffle baskets and a cash raffle. For $5 a ticket, fest-goers can take a chance to win one of three prizes of $500, $250 or $100.

While you’re at the Fall Fest, be sure to visit the rummage and book sale, which will be set up in St. Pat’s basement.

Murphy commented that all appetites would be satisfied at the Fall Fest. From macaroni and cheese to pulled pork, grilled burgers, hot dogs and sausage, and then clam chowder, potato bacon soup and pierogis, along with fries and onion rings and more, there will be something for every taste bud.

Guests interested in Saturday’s chicken barbeque should purchase pre-sale tickets from the church office, although a limited number of tickets will be available at the event.

The Fall Fest will again feature their popular Dessert Café’, which will serve up homemade cakes, pies, cookies and other sweet-tooth-fixes. This year, Murphy said fest-goers will want to try the Tioga County Fair’s Blue Ribbon winner, a piece of chocolate silk pie.
