Ice Cream Works! announces September fundraiser

Ice Cream Works! is pleased to announce that a percentage of all proceeds for the entire month of September will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Widow Diane Kensey and widower Mike Franz met as a result of the catastrophic flooding in 2011. After dating, marrying and buying a flooded building, they created Ice Cream Works!, a seasonal ice cream store that specializes in homemade, creative ice cream in addition to the traditional items you would expect.

Diane was previously married to Matthew Kensey, a graduate of Seton Catholic, Binghamton University and BLI through the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce. He ran AllReady Printing Inc. with his family until he passed away from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Mike was previously married to Leanne Cardone from Owego. Leanne suffered from Type I Diabetes since a young age and was also blessed as a kidney recipient due to complications of her disease.

Ice Cream Works! is a community minded and family run business. It opened in 2013 and expanded with an ice cream truck in 2016 and homemade ice cream in 2017.

The store offers over 30 flavors of hard ice cream, Dole Whip, soft serve with all the traditional options of shakes, floats, sundaes and many creative sundaes unique to their store such as a honey sundae made from co-owner Diane’s own bees.
