Opinion: The fair would love to hear from you!

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Tioga County Fair board, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the wonderful folks in and out of greater Tioga County for their support of the fair last week.

The weeklong fair is a cumulative effort by dozens of community volunteers that put in over a year of planning to make the Tioga County Fair the best that we can. 

We are thankful that the 2018 Tioga County Fair enjoyed its best attendance in decades! Fair-goers were pleased with the new $10 admission price as well as the beautiful Gillette Midway Show.  

Our goals are to expand the fair next year in several areas, and revisit entertainment options and vendor participation. Although there were a few minor bumps in the road, we are able to embrace these issues, learn from them and find ways to continue to improve all aspects of the fair.  

I humbly ask community members to email their suggestions for next year’s fair directly to me. In addition, I am compiling a list of people who would like to volunteer in some capacity at the 2019 Fair, which will be Aug. 6 through 10.
