Moving mountains of mud; more rain forecast for today

We had a 24-hour break in the weather, and now we are back at it – but things appear intermittent, with the forecast showing rain, sometimes heavy, with patches of clearing over the next few days.

Many are wondering, “Will we ever get a break from the rain.”

With less damage in Tioga County than residents were anticipating, those that were impacted by the flooding utilized the brief period of sunny skies yesterday to continue cleaning up from the flash flooding that ravaged the area earlier in the week.

In Binghamton, inches of mud on Court Street are being cleared from the roads and parking lots in surrounding businesses. But determined, the businesses located in the affected areas are working to remain open during the clean up process, as workers with plows and shovels continue to move mountains – of mud, that is.
