I am looking for an Avon representative in the Newark Valley / Berkshire / Richford / Owego areas. Call 642-8176.

I would like to ask those responsible for burning their wood scraps, plastic and trash in their backyards to take some consideration for their neighbors. Someone permeated the air in and around East Beecher Hill Road around 8 p.m. Sunday. We had to take our children, pets and all sorts of fabric chair cushions indoors to avoid the horrendous smell. We immediately shut all the windows and doors in our home and had to turn on all the fans inside to be able to sleep as the smoke entered our home while we were outdoors. The next morning the smell was still there – it literally made our eyes and throats burn. We called several offices around Tioga County and reported the incident. I think campfires, and outdoor barbeques, etc., are great but this was more like someone cleaning up their yard by igniting a fire. Would you please stop? It is three days later and the smell is still lingering. You are hurting many of us by being so disrespectful.

~

I would like to just take a moment and recognize the amazing people at Mapleridge Ranch. I dropped my grandson off this past Sunday for his first week of camp and from the moment we stepped on the property everyone was so kind and genuine. Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome and helping us not feel uncomfortable.

~

I have never seen the roads in Barton look so bad. No potholes were filled and it is August. I am going to send a bill to the highway superintendent for the alignment on my car. What is going on?

~

PLEASE HELP! Looking for the gentleman who first arrived at the auto accident on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the corner of Highway 96 and Anderson Hill Road, and directed traffic until help arrived. Any witness? Call 687-9520.

I was told a couple called in for remedies for hot spots on a dog and I missed that issue. Is it possible someone can call in for a remedy for hot spots again? I really would appreciate it.

~

Congratulations to Laurie Vogel on her retirement from Artisans Townhouse, where she was for so many years. We miss her already!

~

Is Governor Cuomo the governor of New York or Puerto Rico? He should focus on the problems of New York State, not the problems of Puerto Rico.

~

We just had Window World put whole house windows in our house. They are great to work with, do a wonderful job, and best of all they have a lifetime warranty of any breakage, even if someone should throw a rock through your window, everything is completely covered for the lifetime of the window. We enjoyed doing business with them very much.

~

I think the Pennysaver ought to put those political comments in a separate insert like they do with ads. That way, people who don’t want to read them won’t, they can just toss the insert away.

~

I saw on TV that possums eat tics. Many people don’t like possums. Let’s be thankful for them!

~

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Bell Brothers Landscaping who did a great job tearing down our old grown hedge and stonewall and putting up a new retaining wall. David and Howard Bell are great to work with and come from a wonderful family. Call them if you need landscape work.

~

Please, when you mow your lawns don’t let the grass clippings land in other people’s driveways, walkways and in the road. When it is wet it becomes very slippery. Have consideration for those walking and those on motorcycles and bikes. Also, the grass clippings go down the sewer, we already pay enough for our sewer bills. Whatever happened to common sense and consideration for others?

~

Thank you to the person that found our cell phone at Marvin Park. The Tioga County Sherriff’s Department contacted us and we picked it up Sunday night.

~

Free diabetic lancets, 30G fine gauge, still in the box brand new. Call (607) 625-2971.

~

To answer your question yes, I do buy pork. I had a farm and I raised pigs, cows and other animals. No, I didn’t have 7,000 pigs and I know the time and work that goes into these animals. So you are writing to someone that has done hard work. I was raised on a farm when I was growing up. Some of my family members still have farms. My farm was clean and my neighbors never complained about our animals. Newark Valley is not a big town. It’s not fair to others that can’t stand the smell. Try other chemicals.

~

I’m looking for a charitable organization that might be having a yard sale in the future, late August or September. I have a lot of good stuff and I’d like to donate it to a worthy cause. They can call 659-3871.

~

On Sunday, we took a ride and came onto Sundaes on the Farm and Mr. Mead’s farm. Tremendous place! I didn’t realize what kind of dairy we had in this area. It’s a tremendous looking farm and the management has got to be the tops! It makes me wonder why New York did not let natural gas drilling go on. In this state, every farm could look like Mr. Mead’s farm. This is an up and coming farm; this is great! If New York had only gone to gas, so many farms could have the beauty that Mr. Mead’s farm has. It was tremendous and I hope they keep having it.

~

I was wondering where you could donate clothes? What organizations take clothing donations?

~

Someone needs to explain to the Old Coot that there is a huge difference between a restaurant and a hospital visit. I cringe to think what would happen if he went for care at a restaurant for a life threatening event. He needs to wake up. Hospital care, equipment and tests do not come cheap. Pay your bill or stay home.

~

Has anyone seen the Gallagher’s cat? Please let Kurt know if you have. Thanks.

National Political Viewpoints

So Maxine Waters said she’s on a mission from God, but didn’t Mike Pence talk to God and the media went wild? They said he had mental issues. So where’s the media’s response to Maxine? Boy, more and more fake news! You can’t listen to anything they say.

Mid term elections are soon approaching. I still haven’t heard any Democratic agenda that will benefit the citizens or country of America. It’s the same thing with them, raise your taxes, eliminate Isis, open borders, go on food stamps, go on welfare, high unemployment, protect illegal immigrants while giving them a free ride, the list goes on and on. Yea, this is an agenda I would surely want. It’s sad but I don’t believe they’ll ever learn, and now their possible presidential candidate list so far is comical with Biden, Eric Holder and now Gillibrand. So I ask all of them, how are things in the Land of Oz?

~

Okay, you lucky people who voted for Trump; now his son is divorcing his wife of 12 years with five children. Well I know it takes two to tango but that kid is going to be exactly like his father, even though Trumpster didn’t have as many children all at one time. He’s got his spread around! So I’m sure junior will follow in his footsteps and we put him in the White House! What the hell is wrong with us? Common sense went right out the window. Have a great day and think about it.

~

A few years ago Obama said American jobs are gone and never coming back. Hillary, on her campaign trail stated that Trump is dangerous to our economy. Can any reader out there please explain to me how a 4.1 percent GDP is dangerous? Obama and Hillary must be in awe, as Trump has accomplished in record time what Obama couldn’t do in eight years, and Hillary certainly would not have ever been able to do. Their power lies in the people who were on food stamps, welfare and unemployment. I am so glad Hillary is not our president!

~

It seems fitting that the Democratic party chose the donkey as their symbol because lately so many have been making complete asses of themselves by doing everything they can to derail the Trump presidency.

~

The vacuous and moronic Socialist Marxist Democrat leaders like Schumer, Pelosi, Cortez, Sanders and Waters cannot see reality. Big win for President Trump again. The economy has surged to a growth rate of 4.1 percent. Just months ago a famous Democrat so called economist said a U.S. growth rate of 3 percent was just a pipe dream. I guess it depends on what the Democrats are smoking.

~

I feel so bad for all of you Trump haters out there; it’s just sad and pathetic. When Obama was in office, just because people didn’t like him they didn’t go after his kids or his family or his wife. The Democrats don’t seem to have anything better to do than to bash Ivanka Trump or Melania and Barron Trump. It’s just sad, just because you don’t like Trump you go after his kids or his family? That really shows a lot of maturity and mentality. And you know what else? It’s just sad. Then you talk about Republicans being haters, and stupid and deplorable. I think you ought to look into the mirror and judge your own self.

~

I am so sick of hearing about abortion from the Republicans. Do you people not get it? Abortion is none of your business! I have never had an abortion, but no evangelical is going to tell me what to do with my body. There are so many circumstances for an abortion. No one knows what many women have to go through and the heartache. Abortion is no one’s business, period!

~

Governor Cuomo advocates paid family leave policy and equal pay for women. Remove firearms from domestic abusers!

~

Just put on Spectrum News, something I didn’t already know and I wouldn’t call this fake news, people are leaving New York State in droves. When will Cuomo get the picture? Hopefully he will not be re-elected come November. We need a Republican in there.

~

Well President Trump does the impossible. He has done it! 4.1 GDP, unbelievable! Go Trump!

~

Does anyone how much it costs us every time Trump campaigns for himself or his cronies? What is the cost each time Trump goes on a golfing trip? He takes so many golfing trips, much more than Obama did when he was in office for eight years.

~

The Republicans I knew always pledged allegiance to the United States of America. Now most of these fools are pledging their allegiance to Donald J. Trump.

~

I have to say, the fellow who said Ted Nugent should be president was right on after Trump gets his another four years. I also think Wayne LaPierre of the NRA should be his vice president. Go guys, go!

~

Trump haters are truly useful idiots. To hate someone is to give them great power over you. Your blindness is called Trump Derangement Syndrome. If you understood anything, you would see that Trump is doing what no other President or Secretary of State (Hillary) has done since Bush Senior. The world has changed greatly since 1991 and Trump is realigning to the near reality. Because of the shale revolution and other developments America is in ascendancy now. Besides MAGA, the stage will be set to keep us out of wars and benefit all of humanity. On what basis do you disagree?

~

We must all ask ourselves one question, why did the Russian government spend so much money to assure the election of Donald Trump? The obvious answer scares the devil to of me.

~

Assuming everything President Barack Obama did was completely wrong, why can’t the great dealmaker, Mr. Trump, fix it? He just continues to blame the previous administration and cannot move forward. Shameful.

~

Gee, I wonder; if the U.S. is such a horrible place to live and the Trump Administration is so bad, why do our borders have to contend with people trying to come here? Countries like North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Russia and other Socialist countries don’t have that problem. Their borders contend with keeping their citizens IN. So, what’s the deal?

~

Wouldn’t it be great if the White House administration could act like how we were raised as children? We were taught to not make fun of people with handicaps, do your homework, don’t lie, we’re all created equal, and treat people with respect. The meaning of integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking. That shouldn’t be too much to ask of our representatives and president.

~

In the 1960’s, the hero of the Democrat Party, President John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, instead, ask what can I do for my country.” What happened to that? How did we go from that to the Bernie Sanders and his cohorts going to the handout routine, everything free for everyone? When asked how this is funded, their response, “Oh, the government pays for it.” Cool. The government has no money, except that which it takes from its citizens. Can’t wait until that sets in with the “gimme” crowd.
