Literacy Volunteers announces summer computer instruction schedule

The Tioga Adult Learning Lab, (T.A.L.L.) is accepting registration for classes in basic computer instruction for July and August 2018. T.A.L.L. serves adult students throughout the Southern Tier, and is sponsored by Literacy Volunteers of Broome-Tioga Counties, Inc., in partnership with Tioga County.  

T.A.L.L. program staff provides basic computer application instruction. High speed Internet Broadband service is also available. There are no fees for any of the workshops or services T.A.L.L. provides.

July and August the following classes are offered at the Owego Free Academy, Room 287. 

“Using Email Effectively” will take place on Tuesday, July 17 or Thursday, July 31 (choose one session) from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; “Basics of Microsoft Windows & Word” meets July 10, 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to noon; “Basics of Microsoft®  Excel” meets July 24, 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to noon (attend all); “Applying for Jobs Online” meets Thursday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to noon; “Basics of Microsoft®  PowerPoint” meets Wednesday, Aug. 1 and Thursday, Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; “Resume Success” meets on Wednesday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to noon, or on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon (choose one session); “Basics of Microsoft®  Publisher” meets on Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 9 to 11 a.m.; “Social Networking – Using Facebook” meets Thursday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Each class meets at the Owego Free Academy’s second floor, in Room 287, Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego. Students must be pre-registered to attend classes, and can do so by calling the Literacy Volunteers office at (607) 778-6406. 

Open lab sessions where adults can use computers, software and Broadband Internet to work independently or with the instructor will be held on the following Monday mornings at the Tioga Career Center (TCC), 1062 Rt. 38, Owego: July 9, 16, 23 and 30, Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27. Reservations for open lab sessions can be made by calling TCC at (607) 687-8483. The instructor will be available at TCC from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on these days.
