Black Gallery celebrates July’s First Friday with ‘Story’

Black Gallery celebrates July’s First Friday with ‘Story’The Black Cat Gallery will be celebrating July’s First Friday Art Walk, planned for 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Owego on Friday, with music and libations.

Tunes for July is “Story”, the music of Robert Heinrich, Gordie Gottlieb and Brian Schendel. The group has an aggregate 95-plus years of musical experience with songs and styles that range from folk, country and blues, to rock and jazz standards.

Each has performed extensively with various groups, and as solo acts, before teaming up in 2011. Whatever the musical style, they gravitate toward songs that tell stories of people and stories of life. They create rich instrumental beds for their vocals, blending a wide variety of acoustic stringed instruments including 6-string, 12-string and classical guitars, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, charango, Autoharp, cuatro and others.

Together, these talented musicians put out a sound that is sure to delight and entertain.

Featured artist for July is Karen Marple, creating beautiful rope baskets that will color your world. The baskets are made of cloth and rope, are sturdy, striking and functional. Karen also works with leather and beads to create beautiful wrapped bracelets.
