The North Barton Grange’s Community Day, turned Mini Blue Grass Festival, will be held on Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Barton Grange. The event’s goal is to raise funds for the 6th-annual Bluegrass Festival.

Community Day is a free admission event and is the North Barton Grange’s way of saying thank you to support from the community.

In the past, along with vendors, food and fun, one band has performed. This year, the event will have three bands entertaining the crowd – The Diamondback Rattlers will have a reunion, followed by Slewfoot Bluegrass and Mathews Family Tradition.

Everything comes at a cost, said Beverly Randall at the North Barton Grange. This event is to cover the cost of the Bluegrass Festival held in September.

While admission is free on June 9, guests are encouraged to take part in the Chinese auction, chicken barbecue, bake sale, craft and rummage vendors, as well as various raffles throughout the day.

September’s Bluegrass Festival will last for two days, feature 10 bands, and offer camping sites for the crowd nearing 500 people to attend both days.

Randall said both the Mini Festival and the Annual Festival are like a reunion for many people, because many people come year after year to enjoy the music, culture and food that comes with bluegrass. People come from all around to sit around the barn style stage to listen to original down-to-earth music.
