Once again I would like to know why Berkshire’s clean up days are a secret, I guess. My neighbors are all asking when are the clean up days and someone answered they already had them, but most people did not know about it. I guess you have to buy an obscure Owego paper to find out. How about a little more advertising like Newark Valley, Owego, like other towns do. They must have had a very easy day because there was nothing along the roadside that had any indication of clean up days. Next year could you please advertise it and when you talk about code officers coming around and checking people’s properties, it’s very hard when there is no clean up days to get a property cleaned.

Does anybody out there now how to get rid of chipmunks? My back porch is being infested with them. If you have a remedy I’d appreciate you putting it in the readers column.

Due to the heavy amount of traffic on Honey Pot Road in Candor, why can’t a simple white line be painted on so one can tell what side of the road they’re on, especially at night, it’s impossible to tell what side of the road you are on.

I’m just calling to say I am disgusted with Tioga Center School selecting the same parents as chaperones to go on field trips with the children. It’s always the same parents chosen to go, never any new ones. There are more than just his or her children in that school, however it used to be anyone that would chaperone was welcome to go. If you are chose through the lottery you are chosen to go. That is just disgusting and wrong!

I want to know why I can’t get a loan from a bank when I can get a loan for credit cards. I would like to know what other people think of this.

I’m not sure if shocked is the word but it may be. When I went to vote for the Owego Apalachin school budget today, the election inspector that signed me in was wearing a political badge in support of a local congressman. I think that is totally inappropriate to go to a voting place and have a voting inspector standing next to her overseer with a political badge. Can’t believe it!

The Nichols Cemetery Association would like to thank the Nichols Boy Scouts for placing American flags on veteran graves at the cemetery last week. It takes a lot of time and effort to locate gravesites, and their efforts are very much appreciated. Thank you all.

I have a couple old desktop computers with monitor, keyboard and mouse included that I am willing to donate. They have Windows XP on them, so they are really old but they do work. If interested, leave a message at 687-5398.

National Political Viewpoints

I see the gas prices are rising to $3 a gallon under Mr. Trump’s administration. The only time I have seen it worse was during the George W. Bush administration, where it was getting close to $4 a gallon. As the saying goes, if you want to live like a Republican, vote Democrat.

After a White House aide called John McCain a songbird, and also that remark about oh, he’s dying anyway, I can no longer in good decency remain a Republican. I am jumping ship; I am becoming a Democrat. Is it a good decision for me? But I can’t be child-like and stay in the Republican Party. I’m moving on, I’m evolving, I’ve finally grown up.

Why doesn’t Hillary Clinton just retire? She just doesn’t understand people and I just don’t care what she has to say anymore. She needs to retire and spend time with her grandkids.

Zero nobama got the Nobel Peace Prize after seven months of groveling, bowing and capitulation to foreign leaders. If President Trump de-denuclearizes the Korean Peninsula, he should get the Nobel Peace Prize for world-class leadership.

Dear Melania Trump, if I were you I would keep my mouth shut and wouldn’t tell the nation to always treat people with respect and not to bully. Don’t you know what your husband does? And he is the biggest bully of all! Are you on another planet? What a joke! I thought your English would get a little better by now also.

I am constantly amazed by the stupidity of Democrats. One caller said last week that Ivanka Trump was in favor of cyber bullies. Ivanka hasn’t been married to Trump for decades! His wife’s name is Melania, repeat Melania, and she is against cyber bullying. Get your facts straight. Oh, that’s right, you are a Democrat and you are not concerned with the facts.

Senator John McCain, one of two senators from Arizona, has not been working for his constituents since December. My opinion, he should resign and have someone else appointed as senator for the rest of his term. He knows he will not be back in Washington because of his health and is being paid big money for the last six months without being in Washington serving his constituents. While he is not working and is unable to show up, he can’t vote on issues for the Republicans so the Republicans have one less vote on issues. The Republicans need every vote they can get so McCain should do the right thing for his country and resign.

Ex-President Obama wrote a book after he left the White House and he said that he hates white people. Can you believe that from an ex-president of the United States?

The Justice Department is slow walking the Senate Oversight Committee requested documents for six months in hopes that the traitorous Democrats will take over the house and stop this Republican Congress from learning the truth in those documents. Go Trump!

Seems to me, and I think my opinion will be born out by the facts, that Andrew Cuomo has much more concerns about the people of Puerto Rico and Israel than he has for the people in New York.

The media and politicians think water boarding is torturing. Do they know that marine recruits get water boarded as part of their training? Also army recruits go through a gas chamber as part of their training.

Looks like Cuomo is looking for votes as he offers free camping supplies to all and any New Yorker. I’d say it’s a very expensive price tag to offer free camping, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camp chairs, camp stoves, lanterns and even the firewood! He needs to realize as people leave New York in droves, and that it’s the lowering of taxes he should be concentrating on, not camping supplies. Looking for a new Republican governor in November, it can’t come soon enough!

To last week’s reader about a moron in the White House. Yes we did have a moron in the White House until Donald Trump got there. I’m one of the deplorables with no electricity, so I didn’t hear about the news on the television or read it the newspaper. Thanks for letting one of the more unfortunates know about that.

Notice the price of gas lately? Why is it when a Republican is in office the gasoline is $3 or $4 a gallon, but you get a Democrat in there and it’s $2.25 to $2.75? You’ll live like a Republican, vote Democrat. Get it? You will get it.

Isn’t it about time that the Democrats learned how to be good losers?

Yes, Mr. Trump, you and the White House are embarrassing to our country. Whatever good you may have done is over shadowed by your numerous lies and yes, character does matter! Please step down.

Their satanic music, jazz and swing result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others.” “Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”

John McCain was a Navy pilot stationed on an aircraft carrier. When would he have had the opportunity the father a Vietnamese child?

Did you notice that CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, and ABC tell you only part of the news that always makes President Trump look bad? Enough with the Stormy Daniels story. So we all know Trump likes women, and who cares how many times he was married. Wake up and realize he is doing a good job and Thank God for Fox news who keeps me informed to all kinds of news, whether it be bad or good news. Obama was never even close to being criticized as bad as they are bashing Trump and his family. Why do so many people pick on Melania Trump for her speech? Can you speak five or six different languages? Obama did not attend Nancy Reagan’s funeral. Melania Trump, who is the current first lady, attended Mrs. Bush’s funeral, and when the fake news channels showed the picture of all the Presidents and their wives who attended, they cropped the picture of Melania off and later apologized, saying it was an error. So McCain was behind the Russian dossier; well I wish him nothing but the best with his health and hope he soon turns around in his choices on voting what’s right for the American people and not what he thinks is right just to get back at President Trump.

The Libs are proposing to run on a program aimed at increasing taxes. Yeah, that’s what we need. Can you imagine how many people currently employed will be unemployed if THAT flies? They cite increasing the deficit with the current tax cut. What they DON’T tell you is that with 3.3 million new taxpayers, instead of food stamp. unemployment and welfare recipients, more money is going into the Treasury. Think that will affect the deficit in a positive way?

Did anyone else notice that on the day President Trump declared war on high drug prices, the stock of all the major drug companies rose? Shows you just how firm of a hold they have on a Republican congress.

There was a comment in The Owego Pennysaver that is absolutely false and must be responded to. The comment was, “I understand Senator John McCain of Arizona fathered a Vietnamese baby while he was a soldier in the war. This has been hidden from the people for years.” This probably goes back to the 2000 election where John McCain was running ahead of George Bush. While in Bangladesh, John’s wife Cindy was shown 160 abandoned babies at a center run by the late Mother Teresa in Dhaka. One of the girls suffered a cleft palate so severe that she could not be fed, while another one had a serious heart condition. Fearing both would die without medical attention, Cindy demanded that she be allowed to take the children back to the U.S., and applied for visas. She argued furiously with Bangladeshi officials until they finally agreed. Wes Gullett, a former aide to John adopted the girl with the heart condition and named her Nikki. John and Cindy adopted the girl with the cleft palate and named her Bridget. After John had taken his adopted daughter Bridget on the 2000 campaign trail, and won the New Hampshire primary, a phone poll organized by Bush allies started an ugly rumor by asking voters in South Carolina, “Would you be more or less likely to vote for John McCain if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate child?” It worked and John lost the South Carolina primary and his campaign never recovered. Bridget is fully grown now and is a great sister to John’s biological daughter Meghan. The two sisters prove that the McCain family tent is large.

Boo-hoo. The Obamas didn’t get their much sought invitation to yesterday’s Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. One of America’s greatest son’s was Winston Churchill. Obama didn’t like Churchill, calling him an imperialist. He removed Churchill’s bust from the Capitol rotunda and returned it to Britain. Shame on Obama, the presidency is not a place for petty grudges. Further, he and Michelle insulted the British Royal Family by ignoring protocol when they visited. They were totally crass when they visited and insulted Britain’s greatest statesman/hero. They then expected Queen Elizabeth to ignore their bad behavior. Good for Queen Elizabeth for maintaining British dignity. It’s never too late for the Obama’s to learn some manners.

Have you seen the April treasury Tax receipts? They are the highest for any month, in history! Fifty-five billion more, and over 10 percent more than April 2017! So much for the Trump tax reductions, increasing our debt!

Oh look, s terrorist attack in Paris with a KNIFE! One killed, several injured. Not the first to happen in Paris. Guess we now need to ban knives! Either that, or enable people to carry a handgun in order to defend themselves. What’s next, rakes? Hoes? Baseball bats? Let’s ban everything that could possibly be used to harm someone else.

If John McCain fathered a child in Vietnam, that’s his business.

Why are we surprised the White House won’t apologize for the John McCain comment. Mr. Trump won’t ask God for forgiveness because he has never done anything wrong. Trump means never having to say you’re sorry.
