Owego Student Leadership Workshop offered on May 19

The Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation, Inc. is conducting a Student Leadership Workshop on May 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Owego Elks Lodge.

This workshop is free and open to all interested Owego eighth through tenth grade students. 

The three-hour workshop will be facilitated by Robert Bassett.

Bassett is a Master trainer in the Alaska Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute (Alaska PYLI) curriculum developed by the Center For Creative Leadership (CCL), and is president of the Owego based Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation, Inc.

The workshop will begin the discussion of the dynamic context of leadership in school community service and volunteer projects.

The students will examine their own definitions and understanding of leadership.

A model of leadership, which includes the elements of Self, Vision, Communication, Empowerment, Action and Context will be explored.

Experiential Exercises will give students an opportunity to practice and refine their own leadership skills including team communication and decision-making.

Students will leave with new leadership skills and tools and a Certificate of Leadership Development from the Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation.
