TCNN Member Focus: Tioga County Public Health

Did you know that children should be kept rear facing until at least two years old, remain in a forward-facing 5-point harness until four to seven years old, and use a booster seat until at least eight to 12 years old?

Tioga County Public Health’s Child Passenger Safety Program helps make sure children are riding in the correct car seat, that the seat is properly installed, and that the seat has not expired or been recalled.

These car seat safety checks are free for anyone living in Tioga County and are completed by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. Families on public assistance may qualify for a replacement seat if they do not have the appropriate seat for their child and are currently unable to purchase a new one. Appointments last 30 to 60 minutes and include education on proper car seat use along with hands-on installation. Children must be at the appointment to ensure proper fit to their seat.

To schedule your appointment, call Kylie Holochak at (607) 687-8612. Appointments can also be made at the Waverly Police Department by calling (607) 565-2836.

The Tioga County Non-Profit Network (TCNN) is a grassroots effort to bring together leaders from non-profit organizations to address common interests and to better serve the people of Tioga County. TCNN typically meets every other month on the fourth Wednesday from noon to 1:30 p.m.
