Owego Apalachin Music Booster Club offers Summer Music Enrichment Scholarships

Music is something that you will always have with you. Many students recognize this and are determined to continue their learning beyond what is offered by their school.

There are many youth-oriented summer opportunities for participation and learning. Among the many offerings are theater programs by the Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshop, Ti-Ahwaga Players and the Endicott Performing Arts Center, and music camps at Tri-Cities Opera, Ithaca College and SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School. There are also straight theater opportunities with the Summer Savoyards and SPARE Productions. American Music Abroad is also an acceptable program.

To encourage Owego Apalachin students to participate, the Owego Apalachin Music Boosters are offering scholarships to students participating in these activities to assist them with the program fees.

They have set aside $1,500 for this scholarship fund and will award 25 percent of the fee (capped at $125) to each student who elects to participate. Non-fee opportunities will be eligible for a $25 appreciation award. If the awards exceed the budget, the $1,500 will be divided proportionally among them.

Students must be enrolled in Owego Free Academy or the Owego Apalachin Middle School and be entering a grade from seventh to12th in the fall. The qualifying programs must be from recognized organizations. Individual lessons will not be eligible. The student must demonstrate enrollment in a qualified program or a cast announcement for non-fee opportunities.
