I, for one, would not like to see marijuana legalized in New York State but for the following reasons: 1. Currently anybody could buy a good ounce of pot just like you can order a pizza. An ounce of good pot will cost you $250 plus or minus, but the minute it becomes legal that same pot will cost $400, plus or minus, due to taxes. An example being an ounce of pot in Colorado would cost $400. 2. Just like a Breathalyzer test with alcohol, the authorities will have some type of reefer meter for people to blow into and then everybody that smokes pot knows they can drive safely unlike the drunk drivers under the influence of alcohol. It’s apples and oranges. There is a big difference. 3. My point is money, you lovers of money. You know, the authorities, insurance companies, the courts, the fines, the surcharges, the taxes, and the drug classes. It’s all about money; you’re not fooling anybody. Keep marijuana illegal!

This is for the person who was having problems with getting mail delivered. I’ve been having a problem also and I’ve lived at my address for over 20 years. I’ve sent cards to people across town with the same zip code, which have taken weeks to get there. I’ve gotten my neighbor’s mail, it’s a good thing I know him. I don’t know what the problem is and I don’t know the solution, but there is definitely a problem with the postal service in Owego.

The person calling in about the dogs running off its leash in his neighbors yard – he must be my neighbor! Same thing is going on with me. They have no respect for the leash law. Don’t say anything to him or you’ll get a mouthful from him. What do you do, who do you call? It doesn’t do any good.

There goes the media again causing big time damage. I’ve been in restaurants before and people were asked to leave if they didn’t order or stayed too long after eating and just visiting, taking up seats for other paying customers. This 24-hour news media is BS. It seems to stir up an awful lot of trouble.

I just got through watching the video recording of the Owego Village Board meeting on April 16. I was quite surprised to see one of the board members come in with a hat on, actually a beanie type thing down over his ears, and even left it on during the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. It was very disrespectful.

~

Maybe corporations, schools and municipal employers ought to take a lesson from professional sports teams. When the NHL, NFL, NBA or MLB teams find themselves on a losing streak, they don’t delete their team. They realize it is the leadership that is lacking. When many of the team players are voicing the same complaints, concerns or valid points of mismanagement, the owners don’t crap can the very people who are the backbone of their teams. No, they are smart enough to realize these people are their company’s greatest assets. They know they want to attract and retain the best, provide them with encouragement, stimulus, fairness, and make them feel that they are an integral part of the company’s mission and you do this with a good leader. Don’t bother with a questionnaire or suggestion boxes if you are not going to follow through. It’s just another moral deflating slap in your team’s face. If you are hearing disgruntled rhetoric and seeing a high overturn of employees, then look at your leaders, or lack of. Remember, great leaders don’t blame the tools they are given; they work to sharpen them, not beat them down.

It sure would be nice if the Owego Village Sewer digester would have an opioid rather than an old worn out junk problem, the state would probably be there with buckets of money and Freddie Akshar would be over there getting his picture taken.

I have a question. Why are all these pigeons showing up in rural counties? For years there have been flocks of them accumulating on electric lines, in barns, flying around dropping pigeon droppings. This has got to stop and there should be a fine, and DEC should deal with the people bringing these pigeons from other municipalities’ downstate to upstate New York. 

~

I’ve also seen strange lights on aircrafts over Tioga County on clear nights in the sky often. I was told this was some of Lockheed Martin’s testing of aircraft projects for the military.

Tioga County residents: As we wait for spring, have you noticed the amount of garbage in front of your homes? The recycling has been blowing for months as we all endure the winter, but you can help! If everyone in this county picked up the 50 to 100 feet of road front only, directly in front of their homes, imagine the amount of garbage and recycling that could be taken care of in days. I would encourage everyone to do this as we wait for spring. Also, calling out West Beecher, have you looked at your road lately? The amount of garbage is immeasurable! Come on Tioga County, in honor of Earth Day coming this month we can do better!

I hope once the weather breaks the underpass on North Avenue in Owego gets cleaned up. It’s not a good first impression of Owego for people passing through the village. Other villages are organizing clean up days. When is Owego having one?

National Political Viewpoints

I don’t watch the news anymore due to the American people bashing our president instead of standing behind him and giving him a chance. It’s four years; if you don’t agree, vote differently! He didn’t create the government mess he’s in! We’ve been going downhill for years. Another thing, why is Stormy Daniels such a big deal? I’m sure there was something in it for her. If it’s true and did happen, it was before President Trump took office and should be between three people, not the whole world! Another thing, why wasn’t Mr. Clinton impeached after having sex in the White House while in office – that was done on our time! All of Hillary’s crooked deals gone and forgotten! All these protest people are going nuts. I don’t agree with angry abuse or some of these racial killings and discrimination, wrong, wrong, wrong, but how do we control such things? Back to the basics and good therapy, morals and manners, along with respect starting at home from day one!

There’s truth in the old saying, where there’s smoke there is fire. What is Donald Trump afraid of but the truth? If he’s not guilty of sin, let the investigation proceed.

The scurrilous Marxist Socialist fake news parrots push the never Trump line. President Trump should fire Jeff Sessions, Rosenstein and Mueller like that petty buffoon Comey. There is a constitutional crisis already going on when the leaders of the Democrat Party and Obama holdovers in the U.S. Intelligence Agencies, including the FBI, CIA and Justice Departments have a goal to overthrow a duly elected President of the United States. We all should support reinstatement of sedition laws against enemy traitors who’s objective is to destroy our country and our great President Trump who continues to drain the swamp rats. Go Trump!

You know I hear political commentators make the statement that President Trump is the one that connects with the people of the United States. Well, that’s a really disparaging statement about the people of the United States. That’s not true at all.

When the FBI invades Hillary Clinton’s home and her lawyer’s office, only then will I believe there is equal justice under the law.

I will no longer vote since king Trump was elected, not by the people, but by the Electoral College. I’m no Hillary Clinton fan and didn’t vote for her either, but she got almost 3 million more votes that Trump and yet Trump still won the election. Explain to me how my vote counts, apparently it doesn’t, you just end up on jury duty. I will no longer vote not because of the Russians but because the Republicans that back and support this dictator. They are spineless cowards and they will soon be finding themselves in the unemployment lines. Of course they could care less; they are all rich lawyers. Now see how easy it is to take over our country.

Laura Ingraham on Fox News wears a very noticeable gold cross every time she is on. She wants people to believe she is a good person and very religious. Well she doesn’t fool me. Mean viper is not religious. Fox News and the White House are full of vipers, period!

I’d like to make a comment on the issue the lady was commenting about. Whether you have a knife or whether you have scissors or whatever, they are all methods of killing someone. So the teens that are marching for violence with no guns, they are all the same thing. They are all methods of killing someone. Think about it.

Unlike Mr. Trump, I spent four years in the military. Back then we had a president, I won’t give you the name, I will just tell you what we called him. We called him Ike. I wouldn’t want to be in the service with this thing we have that’s supposed to be a president.

Thank you President Trump for the great job you continue doing for America. You make us proud and yes, we will vote you in again. Go, go, go!

Nothing wrong with the teenagers marching, but the question is what good did it do? Cuomo may listen, but he does things his way. Hopefully he will lose the upcoming election. If there were any laws that would stop gun violence we would have them. These kids need to realize the real problem.

Talking about rich people thinking that they are above the law, does the name Clinton do anything for you? I believe they wrote the law, the law they follow.

Would someone please explain the purpose of Obama’s red line concerning Syria? If it stood for leadership it didn’t work, as the recent chemical attack in Syria proves. I believe Obama also reassured the American People that all the chemical weapons were gone. Any answers out there? I’d appreciate it.

I would like one simple explanation as to why anybody would support Donald Trump. I just don’t get it. Just one simple explanation.

Come on Republicans, stand up and do what’s right and then maybe we would have some respect for you when it comes time to vote, because right now your party is circling the toilet. You are going down the drain. Stand up and do what’s right.

The ex-porn person, Stormy Daniels, was never a porn star. She was one of many who were in the porn business. Because of this allegation with Donald Trump 12 years ago she is more widely known than ever before. She is a real gold digger, that’s all she is. Stormy’s better days are behind her.

So now Andrew Cuomo is giving felon parolees a right to vote. He is just doing it for their vote for the next election because he’s slipping in the polls. What a shyster! Bounce that bozo out and do New York State a great deed!

How about that! The PEOPLE of California want an end to this sanctuary city nonsense. The POLITICIANS, you know, the ones who live in gated communities with their own security, want sanctuary cities because it means potential votes. In other words, “Not in my back yard,” but it’s okay in yours! Applied to New York State, I wonder how many PEOPLE would opt out of sanctuary status in places like Syracuse, New York City, etc.? Why isn’t this up for a vote?

I see a reader is upset that there are too many “trash Trump” comments. After eight years of trashing Obama and Hillary it is now bad to trash someone. I wonder what the difference might be.

So someone equates killing one person with a knife to killing 17, 49, and 50 with a gun in order to wonder aloud why knives aren’t banned. Gee, guess why.

Bush and Obama both sent National Guard troops to the border. Crossings are at all time lows. Obama had the highest deportation numbers in years. But don’t let facts ruin your reverie.

Monica has stated that the encounter was consensual. Yes, Sarah is Mike’s daughter. Donald had an affair with wife two while married to wife one and an affair with wife three while married to wife two. Demonstrates his character doesn’t it?

Many readers make fun of Donald Trump for his bone spurs; yet fail to add Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders and Bill Clinton to the list of men, who through deferments, marriage and college avoided the draft. A coward is a coward no matter who he or she is. I went to Viet Nam because I was drafted and didn’t want to run away, but never met anyone who wanted to be there. We would have loved bone spurs, asthma (Biden) or to just be a coward like Clinton, Sanders or Schumer. The problem was I had to look in the mirror and see either a MAN or a coward. I chose a man.

It has become obvious, even to those of us who supported him, that President Trump has done something very illegal in the past; otherwise, why would he fear an FBI raid on his lawyer’s office?

And the saga continues – one politician against the other. Just sick to death with the bickering and tweeting. But, if I was a betting person, I think I know who’s not being truthful.

What a hoot! James Comey saying President Donald Trump is morally unfit to be President. As the old saying goes, “Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.” Where were these kinds of revelations when our previous “president” was telling us, “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan”? Not once, but 31 times he made that and other similar statements, yet no one called him on it.

As sure as the sun rises in the morning, I hope Michael Cohen realizes that the president would not take a bullet for him as he would the president. When it comes to saving his own skin, he would throw him under the bus, just as he did Nikki Haley.
