Catholic Charities of Tompkins Tioga approved to provide employment to people with disabilities

Catholic Charities Tioga Outreach Center is excited to announce that in February of 2018 they were officially approved certification through the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) to start providing Employment Services for individuals with disabilities.

Their new employment service provides three types of employment training. First is the Prevocational Community Based Services. This service provides opportunities to individuals who would like to build job skills through volunteer and community experiences.

Second, their Supportive Employment (SEMP) Services assist individuals to maintain paid employment above minimum wage in an integrated setting in the general work force.

Third, the Employment Training Program (ETP) provides opportunities for individuals to gain real work experience.

Their Prevocational Community Based Services, Supported Employment (SEMP), and Employment Training (ETP) will give individuals the skills they need to move forward through the use of dedicated support staff. Adults with disabilities are assisted in all aspects of employment.

The Mission Statement of Catholic Charities of Tompkins/Tioga stated, “We support all people in need and advocate for social justice and human dignity in partnership with the Diocese of Rochester and greater community.”

Catholic Charities Tioga Outreach Center is located at 139 Roki Blvd. in Nichols, N.Y. For more information, call (607) 414-1023 or contact the Employment Specialist, John Maher, at (607) 259-3344 or by email to John.maher@dor.org.
