Students at Waverly High inducted into the National Honor Society

Waverly High School recently announced the induction of 24 members to their local chapter of the National Honor Society. The ceremony was held on March 26. 

Inducted, are Paige Ackley, Morgan Adams, Michael Atanasoff, Brandon Bubniak, Joseph Buffone, Lucille Burnett, Brandon Clark, Chloe Croft, Nicholas Cusano, Elizabeth Fritzen, Josiah Golden, Gavin Gurreri-Judson, Nicholas Janzen, Haley Judge, Joshua Lee, Zoe Lunduski, Melina Ortiz, Gianna Picco, Brittany Rorick, Cora Smith, Sheridan Talada, Maxwell VanDyke, Scott Woodring and Augustine Worden.

To be admitted to National Honor Society, these students had to hold a cumulative GPA of 90 percent, and they must hold a leadership position – either in Waverly High School or in a community organization. 

Additionally, they must have a strong track record of community service as well as a minimum of eight community service hours in the year they are admitted.

Finally, to be considered, students must have exemplary behavior, school citizenship and strong character.

The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, National Honor Society serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
