Chamber assumes Newark Valley Days; changes name to ‘Summerfest’

The Newark Valley Chamber of Commerce announced last week that Newark Valley Days, organized in previous years by Newark Valley’s Historical Society, has been turned over to the chamber.

In light of this, the Chamber of Commerce will also be renaming the event “Summerfest”, and plan to hold the event on July 27 and July 28 this year in Newark Valley.

Upon the announcement, and in a press release received by Newark Valley’s Chamber of Commerce, they extended a sincere thank you to the Historical Society, the Celebrations Committee, and the volunteers that have organized the annual event for many years.

“This is an event that the community enjoys every year and we appreciate all of the hard work that has gone into organizing it and making it available,” the new organizers stated in the release.

The chamber noted that many of the events and activities that guests are familiar with will continue, and they are also looking for volunteers.

An opportunity is also being offered for organizations and/or businesses to support their community by advertising as a sponsor of various events at the Summerfest.

If you are interested in promoting your business or organization by sponsoring a musical group performing during the festival, sponsoring the parade, or some other event such as the children’s play area, you can contact Merwin Barrett, president, at (607) 778-9239 or Kathy Amato, secretary, at (607) 237-9477.
