The Owego Pennysaver recently published a story about 71 new parking spaces that will be available for shoppers in downtown Owego beginning March 1.
Last week, Tioga County Economic Development and Planning sent out a press release that offered more information about the area where the new spaces are located, and offered specifics on maintenance of the lot and other details.
According to the release, Tioga County will be opening up the back portion of its municipal parking lot located adjacent to the Tioga County Courthouse on Park Street in the Village for public parking.
They noted that the front portion of the lot would continue to be designated as county parking, and that the same entrance and exit that is currently used for the municipal parking lot will also be used by the public to access the 71 new parking spaces.
They also noted that there will be no entrance or exit via Parker Lane, and overnight parking will be prohibited.
The Tioga County Department of Public Works will continue to oversee the maintenance of the parking lot.
