At Monday’s meeting of the Village of Owego board, Elaine Jardine, Tioga County planning director, announced that there would be 71 new parking spaces in the Village of Owego beginning on March 1.
The new parking spaces will be located in the back of the county parking lot, accessible from Park Street, and at the location of the former building that once housed the county historian.
Those utilizing the lot, beginning on March 1, must access the lot from the Park Street entrance, the small, one-way stretch that runs between the funeral home and the courthouse.
There should be a commensurate number of handicapped parking spots available on the streets. They must also be enforced strictly.
