On Jan. 24, 2018, at about 6:25 p.m., the Owego Police Department (OPD) responded to a report of a broken window of the Bridal Shop at 57 North Ave. in the Village of Owego, N.Y.

When patrols arrived, according to a press release received on Thursday from OPD, they located a front window of the business that had been smashed. The officer determined that an unknown weapon shot the window out.

After investigating the situation, officers determined the shots had come from an apartment building across the street.

As a result of this investigation, officers determined that Ronald T. Benson, age 40 of Owego, N.Y., had shot out the window with a B-B gun.

Benson was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the 2nd degree, and damage to property exceeding $1,500, which is a class D Felony.

It was also determined that Benson was a Fugitive from Justice from the State of Pennsylvania. Benson was wanted by the West Chester District Attorney’s office in Pennsylvania for Terroristic Threats.

Benson was arraigned in the Village of Owego Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail.
