On Jan. 6, at about 6:57 a.m., the Owego Police Department (OPD) responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a business on North Avenue in the Village of Owego.
According to OPD, patrol located a subject leaving the area of the business and was identified by witnesses as the subject who had been observed smashing machines inside.
The subject was identified as Charles N. White, age 35 of Owego, N.Y. OPD reported that White was found in possession of a crow bar, an undetermined amount of cash, and other items belonging to the business.
The owner alleges that there was approximately $300 worth of damage to the machines.
As a result, White was arrested for Burglary in the third degree, a class D Felony. White was arraigned in the Village of Owego Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
The New York State Police assisted the Owego Police at the scene.

I live on Liberty St what they call the good side yet it’s not crack heads it’s meth from what I’ve been told. Spoke to OPD enough times and pointed out the actual house and same with other people on the block. They are more worried picking on the pot heads and I also don’t appreciate that crap but it’s not as bad and can be used for meds. Heck they didn’t do anything but put a guy in jail for a month when my neighbor girls boyfriend got hate crime and had someone from another state control substance and highly intoxicated the one time on Liberty the good side as they call it. By law a hate crime alone is 7 years. So OPD needs to step it up more. Just saying
Kristen u don’t live on Liberty St and u only talked to cops once with me about the issues on the st. It doesn’t matter what you say they won’t do anything about it so there is no need to sit there saying u live even in the town. Okay. Just cool ur jets.
