Two arrested after a pursuit ending in Windsor

On Dec. 10, 2017, at approximately 12:55 p.m., a Kirkwood based trooper attempted to stop a black 1993 Geo Tracker on Fairview Avenue in the city of Binghamton for multiple traffic violations.

According to a press release issued by the state police, the trooper activated his emergency lights and siren and the operator of the vehicle failed to comply and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle fled onto several local roadways including Interstates 81 and 86 and into the village of Windsor.

At one point during the pursuit, the occupants of the vehicle threw automobile exhaust parts into the path of pursuing law enforcement vehicles. The vehicle was eventually stopped with the use of tire deflation devices on Main Street in the village of Windsor, and the two occupants fled on foot.  

After a short foot chase, the two suspects were apprehended without incident.

The vehicle operator, Aaron S. Vogel, age 23 of Hallstead, Pa., was charged with the felony of Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, the misdemeanors of Driving a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, Resisting Arrest, and multiple traffic violations.  

The vehicle passenger, Dylan J. Thompson, age 20 of Montrose, Pa., was charged with the felony of Reckless Endangerment 1st degree and the misdemeanor Resisting Arrest. 

Both suspects were arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail. 

The Broome County Sheriff’s Department assisted the State Police during the pursuit.
