Walk-Up Gallery and Studio welcomes newest studio artist

Walk-Up Gallery and Studio welcomes newest studio artistA quilt by Carolyn Campbell.

Join The Walk-Up Gallery and Studio Space and Tioga Arts Council (TAC) in welcoming its newest studio artist, Carolyn Campbell.

Carolyn is a textile artist creating large scale quilts as well as smaller functional quilted pieces and other textiles. For many years, Carolyn has been a practicing visual and textile artist in the community. She has been a long-standing member of the Black Cat Gallery and worked at Quilters’ Haven creating quilts, arranging the displays, and teaching classes.

Carolyn looks forward to joining join current studio artists – Suzanne Poe, whose artistic focus is making wool-felted sculptures and wet-felted pieces, and Alice Mischke, whose primary focus is oil painting — and displaying large-scale pieces in The Walk-Up Gallery and Studio Space in the coming year.

Carolyn’s tenure in the studio will begin on Friday, Dec. 1, and during the Lights on the River festival in Owego. You can meet Carolyn, Suzanne, and Alice on Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Original works from all three artists, which include paintings, prints, cards and more, can be also purchased when you visit The Walk-Up Gallery and Studio Space.

The gallery would also like to thank Shalene Chavez, one of the pioneer artists in The Walk-Up Gallery and Studio Space whose artistic contributions helped transform the space into what it is today.

The Walk-Up Gallery and Studio Space is open Saturdays in November and December, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 179 Front St., 2nd floor, Owego. It will also be open on Friday beginning in December. The artists are also available by appointment.

To schedule an appointment, email walkupgallerystudio@gmail.com, or stop by the studio.
