Upstate Shredding – Weitsman Recycling brings on two seasoned professionals to bolster safety operations

Upstate Shredding – Weitsman Recycling, with headquarters in Owego, N.Y., recently announced the hiring of expert environmental, health and safety professionals William Marzeski and Joan Roof, who will evaluate and enhance company safety protocols, and ensure that the highest level of safety standards are executed. 

As Director of Health and Safety Compliance, Marzeski will travel to each of the Weitsman facilities in New York State and Pennsylvania, and will be responsible for providing leadership and technical support with respect to matters impacting Occupational Safety and Health Programs, Emergency Response Team coordination, Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Compliance. 

Marzeski will be responsible for eliminating or controlling hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations that may lead to human injury and/or property damage. 

As Assistant Director of Health and Safety Compliance, Roof will directly assist Marzeski in all responsibilities in order to develop, promote and maintain optimum workplace safety standards. 

Marzeski and Roof will act as advisors and coordinate safety committees, and develop, recommend and implement practical, functional approaches to resolve safety issues in support of business strategies for achieving customer satisfaction and regulatory/policy compliance. Both will also conduct internal environmental, safety, and health audits to verify compliance levels, and evaluate site safety and health systems, procedures and processes and implements changes to maximize effectiveness.
