Workshop on Rain Gardens taking place on October 19

On Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m., Barb Neal will present on “The Beauty and Benefits of Rain Gardens”. The presentation will take place in the Hubbard Auditorium located in the Tioga County Office Building, 56 Main St., Owego.

Rain gardens are a great way to enhance the beauty of your property, capture storm water and help make your community more storm resilient, and even provide habitat for pollinators.

Join them to learn about rain gardens, how to build them, and how to test your soils to see if a rain garden will work for you.

Barb Neal, horticulture educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension, teaches the workshop. Neal has a Masters of Professional Studies in Horticulture from Cornell University, and long experience in teaching and growing. She also teaches the class, “Soils for Rain Gardens”, for George Washington University’s Sustainable Landscapes Masters program.

The workshop is sponsored by the Sierra Club Tioga County Task Force, Residents Allied for the Future of Tioga (RAFT) and CCE Tioga. For additional information, call or text Erin Riddle at (607) 372-5503 or email to riddleriddle@gmail.com.
