Local farmer donates to combat hunger

Local farmer donates to combat hungerPictured, is Bill Root.

Bill Root is one generous farmer. He recently donated his potatoes and peppers to Catholic Charities Outreach Center so that others have enough food.

Catholic Charities is very happy to have this very fresh produce in their food pantry.

Root explains that he plants his potatoes by hand. Anyone who has done this also knows how much work it is to harvest them, by hand. Thanks to his work, families can have enough on their plates.

The Catholic Charities food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and then from 1 to 3 p.m. Call (607) 414-1023 or visit the pantry located at 139 Roki Blvd. in Nichols to learn more.
