Two of the Gold Star Mothers, Barbara Bilbrey of Owego and Charlotte Chamberlain Rowe of Waverly, were among Gold Star Families honored Sunday afternoon in the Delmar Dale Sibley Dining Room at the Glenn A. Warner Post 1371, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Army Specialist Charles Bilbrey died in Iraq ten years ago. Michael John Chamberlain died on May 25, 1970, in Vietnam.
Veterans of Modern Warfare Chapter 9 President Danielle Ingram coordinated the first time special event to recognize and honor those who have lost a son or daughter while serving the United States Armed Forces. She was supported by VFW and American Legion Posts from Nichols, Candor, Waverly and Spencer Van Etten.
