Paws For A Cause In Memory of Sarah Jayne Orton

Paws For A Cause In Memory of Sarah Jayne Orton

On Saturday, Oct. 7, “Paws For A Cause”, a benefit fundraiser, will take place at Hickories Park in Owego from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This fourth annual event will welcome owners and their pets for a one mile dog walk around the park, basket raffles, live bluegrass music by Mathews Family Tradition, K-9 demonstrations, vendors, pet contests, and much more.

Admission to the event is free. There will be a nail trimming between 1 and 2 p.m. for a donation. The dog walk begins with a registration at 11 a.m. Other activities, to include a blessing of the animals, will take place throughout the day. Food will be available by River Rock, who will be on-site.

You can learn more and register by visiting www.wizathon.com/sarah-jayne-orton/. You do not need to be a dog owner to participate.

Sarah Jayne Orton passed away unexpectedly at the age of five in October of 2013 from sepsis. On her fifth birthday, instead of presents, she had asked for donations to the local humane society. This fundraising event carries on Sarah’s dream to continue to help homeless animals.

The Orton family to memorialize the loving life of their five-year-old daughter, Sarah, created the Sarah Jayne Orton Memorial Foundation. Sarah loved all animals and lived her short life doing all she could to help and care for them.
