As part of the 200th Year Bicentennial of the First Presbyterian Union Church, located at 90 North Ave. in Owego, several guest preachers will be speaking. 

On Oct. 1, the Rev. Bill Carter, minister at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, Pa., will be preaching at the 10 a.m. service. 

Bill grew up in Owego and was a member of the church. He graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1978, and was President of the senior class that year. Bill graduated from Binghamton University in 1982, and then earned his M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1985. 

He has served as Head Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarks Summit, Pa. since 1990. He is also the leader of the Presbybop Quartet, which is a jazz quartet often playing in Presbyterian churches. 

Bill is the author of seven books, and numerous articles in religious journals. The Rev. Lisa Heckman is the Interim Minister at the First Presbyterian Union Church.
