Summer programs wrap up at Owego Gymnastics and Activity Center

Youth enjoyed programs at Owego Gymnastics and Activity over the summer. The center is now offering their fall session.

This summer, children enjoyed many new programs at Owego Gymnastics and Activity Center as well as old favorites. New this summer was a Taekwon-do class, taught by instructor Brad Schuyler, for children age six to eight. Previously, the Taekwon-do program had only been offered for students eight years and up and adults.

With many new students interested, the Taekwon-do Kids class will return this fall on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. The regular Taekwon-do class for ages eight and up will be Mondays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m.

Also new this summer was the Summer Dance Experience with new TADA (Tioga Artistic Dance Academy) director and instructor Danel Pietrowski. Dancers age four through 12 attended the program, which incorporated a variety of different dance styles including jazz, ballet, acro, lyrical and tap. The dancers also got to do craft projects to take home. This Fall TADA will have classes for dancers three through 12-plus.

Recreational and competitive gymnastics programs ran through the summer, as well the Summer Fun Week program. This summer themes included gymnastics, pirates, movies, spies and holidays. Children attending played games and did crafts going along with the week’s theme. For children three and four there were the Munchkin Weeks with themes like Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss.
