Historical Society to participate in Candor’s Fall Festival

The Candor Historical Society is holding their annual Bake Sale and Flea Market during Candor’s Fall Festival of Events on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Candor Masonic Lodge on Rt. 96B.

Prior to the event, donations of useable items (no clothes, please) are always welcome and can be dropped off on Friday, Oct. 6, starting at 1:00 p.m. or by contacting Dick Zavatto to make other arrangements. Donations of Baked Goods are always welcomed, and should be dropped off Saturday morning, starting at 8 a.m.

There is always something for everyone at very low, reasonable prices, and always includes kitchen items, electronics, knick-knacks, linens, games, books, etc. The majority of the items will be on sale at ‘donation’ prices. So stop in, browse a bit, chat with Society Members and guests, and stop at the book-nook in the foyer where Historian Carol Henry will have a blend of her Candor History Books, her 1877 American Historic Novel Ribbons of Steel, as well as her #1 Amazon best-selling contemporary, and suspense novels. Historical Society promotional items will also be available for purchase. And coffee is on the house! Enjoy a cup while you browse.

As a special addition to The Candor Historical Society’s participation this year, there will be a special historic cemetery walking tour of Maple Grove Cemetery during Candor’s Fall Festival of Events on Sunday, Oct. 8 starting at 1 p.m. This will be a narrated, guided tour by Phil Jordan, highlighting many of his remembrances of various locals now interned in Maple Grove.

Sure to be an entertaining talk, the tour will start at the front entrance to the cemetery. The event is free and open to the public. A donation box for the Candor’s Veterans Memorial Fund will available for those who wish to contribute. Contact Dick Zavatto for more information in regards to the Cemetery Walk by calling (607) 236-4011 or by email to dzavatto@hotmail.com
