On Sept. 1, and during the First Friday Art Walk in Owego, the Black Cat Gallery will be featuring the music of “Story”, with Robert Heinrich, Gordie Gottlieb and Brian Schendel.

The group has an aggregate 95-plus years of musical experience with songs and styles that range from folk, country and blues to rock and jazz standards. Each has performed extensively with various groups, and as solo acts, before teaming up in 2011. They create rich instrumental beds for their vocals, blending a wide variety of acoustic stringed instruments including 6-string, 12-string and classical guitars, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, charango, Autoharp, cuatro and others.

Story will perform from 6 to 9 p.m., and during the art walk in downtown Owego.

Remember to have your Art Walk passport stamped.

The featured artist for September at the Black Cat Gallery is Kay Snyder, a talented fiber artist, creating quilts in captivating colors and patterns.

Quilting is more than a craft to Kay; it is a way to express creativity. Quilting is an outlet to relax and to challenge personally. It starts from a single piece of fabric being sewn to another, which soon forms into a beautiful design. This skill has become a passion and has given Kay the chance to give something of comfort to those she cares for. The community of quilting has grown and become a large family of women supporting other women.
