On May 15, Suez began the replacement of water lines on Lake Street in Owego in a joint effort with NYSEG, who conducted their project as well. The initial project, which had a targeted completion date of Sept. 30, 2017, is now complete and ahead of schedule.
As of Wednesday, the paving, which was a joint effort between NYSEG and SUEZ, was complete and the lines were painted.
Throughout the project, agencies and merchants worked together to help visitors and customers access optimum parking. A Walk Owego incentive offered workers in the downtown district a chance to park a little further and gain some exercise on their way to work. Other area businesses also opened up their lots to take on some of the parking.
The Historic Owego Marketplace and area merchants thank all those that have worked to minimize inconveniences throughout the project.
