Don’t forget that your vote matters. Vote for Patricia Reichert, Candor Town Council in the September Primary. She will do a great job with all her prior experience.

George’s BBQ would have been at Newark Valley Days, but the person in charge said I wasn’t needed as he had somebody coming from out of town to do chicken.

Well, boy, am I glad the Dick’s Golf Open is over! Who cares?

~

I have an idea for an old coot article, perhaps he has already covered my idea and I missed it. I am so frustrated calling companies and services and getting voicemails asking me to leave my name and number and they will call me back, even during “regular business hours”. I am the customer, what is there that they don’t get about that? I am calling when I am calling because that is the time convenient to me. I am calling when they are by their own admission supposed to be there. I do not want to talk to a machine and I do not want them calling back when I am otherwise occupied. There would be zero percent unemployment in this country if businesses would stop paying their CEO’s millions of dollars and hire a few people to answer the phone.

To last week’s caller who thinks The Pennysaver wasted too much space celebrating 100 years of women’s right to vote. You call America the land of the free, right? Does denying the right to vote to over half the population for 140 years sound like freedom to you? I say thank you for the article, Pennysaver!

If competitive eaters throw up within 24 hours of a competition they are disqualified. Nobody threw up at the competition at Tioga Downs.

I’m a senior citizen on a limited budget. I’m a cable subscriber to a small cable company in the area. The cable is liable to go out any time and when it goes out it will not be fixed until the next morning. I think the cable is very expensive for what I receive in service. I think they should give customers a discount for that month when it is not available to me and it goes out.

Hey you older ladies like me who raised five, six, seven and even ten kids. What do you think of this Johnson lawsuit? Doesn’t it sound over and over again like the Cosby outfit there, suing 40 years later because you can and get away with it? That is bull! There is no way in hell that a baby will get cancer from a powder, even if it’s on their private parts because they’re going to wipe it off anyway and wash it off. Come on, they may be smart but they’ve got no common sense and the judges go along with it for the money.

To the person wondering where I learned about Watkins Glen getting $10 million, there was a big article about it in the Binghamton Press around the time of the NASCAR race. The other amounts for the other towns came out right after I called the Pennysaver with that article to have it printed.

The Town of Owego highway department works a full week’s number of hours but does it by working four longer days in place of five “normal” days.

National Political Viewpoints

Now that we’re removing all the tributes to the brave confederate soldiers, what are we going to do with the Stone Mountain monument?

~

I agree with our president Donald Trump that both sides were guilty in the Charlottesville rioting. Both sides were guilty and they were both just as wrong. I also want to say Donald Trump could not possibly be a White Supremacist backer or supporter because he is not a Democrat. Go Donald Trump!

~

I fear the U.S. is in grave danger from the Open Borders policy of eight years of the Obama administration. What happened in Spain will likely be attempted here by our enemies because the Democrats and their press pawns continue to concentrate on the fake Russian collusion ploy, and now on the equally ludicrous confederate statue nonsense. President Trump should ignore these buffoons and concentrate on U.S. security measures, the economy, jobs, infrastructure and decreasing taxes. All patriots need to come together and back President Trump against his internal enemies.

~

We New Yorkers are in desperate need of term limits for politicians, especially the governorship. He’s running us aground!

~

To the jerk who’s family came here in 1610 from England. You claim to be patriotic. If you truly were you would do your homework before you slam our president. He never supported neo-Nazis or the KKK! He said they repulse him. As far as Obama being head and shoulders above President Trump, the only thing he accomplished in eight years was transgender bathrooms and a failed healthcare system. Maybe you should take your family back to England. I voted for President Trump and need no reevaluation. All you Democrat Hillary and Bernie lovers want is Socialism. That is not patriotic. Go Trump!

~

We should all be very proud of President Trump’s plan to annihilate Isis, the Taliban, and all our other enemies by changing the very restrictive nobama rules of engagement and taking the shackles off our military. Now we can fight to win. No more fake lines in the sand, troop counts and movements and advance information to our enemies. And also Mr. Trump gives a warning to countries like Pakistan who harbor our enemies. We finally have a Commander in Chief who tells the truth.

~

After last night’s wonderful Afghanistan speech, who could possibly bad mouth our wonderful president?

~

Speaking for myself, and I’ll bet a lot of others, I’m so bothered by people who find some reason to be bothered by EVERYTHING from President Trump to the flag, the Constitution, statues, you name it. I have advice for what it’s worth. GET A LIFE! Get over yourself. Get a job and DO something positive and productive with your life, stop whining and crying and being a pain to the world. You obviously have too much time on your hands.

~

I believe all monuments should be left in place but they should be adorned with plaques telling the truth about the subject. For example: Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy, sent young boys into battle without shoes or ammunition. Christopher Columbus, Italian explorer who pillaged the East Indies and brought Syphilis to the New World. Joe Paterno, Winningest Coach in history, sat by while 100 young boys were sodomized. If we are going to teach history, lets tell the whole truth.

~

Benghazi was investigated at least eight separate times, most recently by a House committee bent on blaming Hillary. None found that any rescue was possible. None. Not even by those hell bent on proving fault. None. Get over it.

~

If the current wave of statue removals isn’t absolutely silly, I don’t know what is! These statues represent a part of our history. If that is offensive to someone because they have a poor self image, get over yourself! What’s next, blow up Mount Rushmore? How much more productive it would be if these individuals would get a job actually helping people, instead of sitting around dreaming up goofy ideas. They obviously have too much time on their hands!

~

Though a lifetime Republican, I chose to sit out the last election because I had serious doubts about Donald Trump’s mental and emotional state. His performance in office, so far, has heightened my doubts. His incessant lying, blaming others for his mistakes and constant fixation on Hillary Clinton’s supposed crimes are not signs of a stable leader. A bill has been proposed in Congress to force the President to undergo a Psychiatric examination. As radical as this seems, it might be a good idea. We have had good Presidents and bad ones but they have always been sane.

~

Are you hard of hearing? How many times does President Trump have to renounce the radical right? You guys, just don’t want hear him because of your irrational hate for him. But isn’t hate what you’re supposedly against? Hypocrites! And what really makes me angry, look at the murderous truck terror attack in Spain. The media took forever, pussyfooting around, before they even mentioned the words Islamic terrorist. But you go hyper when Trump doesn’t come right out, without any information, and renounced one side of the riot. Why are you so tolerant of radical Islam? And by the way, “radical Islam” is being redundant!
