The Annual Department of New York American Legion Family Convention was held in Syracuse, N.Y. July 18 – 22. Attending from Arden Kelsey Unit 907 American Legion Auxiliary in Candor, N.Y. was Patricia Halstead, Sandie Baker, Joanne Robbins, Gwen Benners, Nancy Leonard, Jeanne Thomas and Diane Craig.

The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization. Through its nearly 10,500 units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. Along with The American Legion, it solidly stands behind America and her ideals.

The Auxiliary administers hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs, as well as other worthwhile charities familiar to Americans. It is all accomplished with volunteers.

With the continuation of veterans coming home and needing assistance and transition back into the civilian world, it is more important than ever to become a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. They advocate for our veterans and fight for the continuation of their benefits and to not have them taken away.

Every year, the Legion family visits Capitol Hill and lobbies for the veterans.  Your membership and dues help the veterans and helps the Auxiliary have a voice to help them. Won’t you consider becoming a member? Contact your local American Legion and ask for the Auxiliary membership representative.
