Recently, something pretty remarkable happened. Two former Owego Free Academy (OFA) graduates of more than a decade ago returned to Owego to honor a pair of recent OFA graduates in the Class of 2017.

Michael Motell and Sarah Hammer returned to Owego to present $ 500 scholarships to Gary King and Savannah Terry, who were awarded higher education awards through the Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation.

As Board members of the Bassett Youth Foundation, Motell, who works in financial services in Ithaca, and Hammer, who works in career services at Elmira College, congratulated the students and presented the scholarships at the Bassett Ah-Wa-Ga Center on Lake Street in Owego.
