Again this year, Newark Valley Days had a very successful art show, with 16 artists offering their talents for public view. Patrons of the art show often expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to see such outstanding local talent.

Four cash prizes were offered, sponsored by Visions Federal Credit Union. Best in Show was awarded to Annamarie Sullivan of Newark Valley for her “Treasures,” an acrylic presenting a remarkably detailed display of various fishing gear.

First place went to Bob Merwin of Owego for “God’s Garden,” a landscape displaying a profusion of wildflowers in the foreground.

Burton Taylor of Candor took second place with his “Keep Back the Dark”, and Jeff Mann of Newark Valley claimed third place with his medal sculpture titled “Saw Horse.”

The judges also selected two pieces for honorable mention: Sullivan’s “Steve” and Jodi Inderwies’s (Newark Valley) “Blue Phoenix.”
