Photo: Walkers make it across America!

Pictured, walkers Melanie Ihrig and Lou Tassinary reached their final destination in New York City on July 31. The couple started their trek in Santa Monica, California in October of last year with a goal to walk across the Bunyon Derby – a race trail established in 1928 to promote the opening of Route 66. After making a stop in Owego in mid-July, the two continued east with their ultimate destination being the 1920’s location of Madison Square Gardens. Last week they sent in a photo when they reached their destination. All together, the couple walked approximately 1,800 miles. They will now return back home to Texas.
