Jim Overhiser and Friends will entertain at the Black Cat Gallery from 6 to 9 p.m., and during the First Friday Art Walk.

Join the Black Cat Gallery on Aug. 4, and for the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Owego. The Black Cat Gallery will be featuring the music of Jim Overhiser and Friends, playing a mix of folk, rock and blues from 6 to 9 p.m.

The featured artist of the month is Donna Townsend. Donna likes the feel, color and moods of textiles, with wool being her favorite. Donna enjoys the ease of crochet and knitting, which can be done almost anywhere. Donna also does needle felting, taking wool roving and using a barbed needle to sculpt the wool into whimsical creatures.

Perhaps you have fond “Memories of Owego”. Former Owego resident Toni Katchuk Richards has created a painting of local interest, the famous slide in Marvin Park. The original acrylic painting and giclee prints are located at the Black Cat Gallery and are available in various sizes; they are also on their Etsy site, www.etsy.com/shop/blackcatbitsandbobs.

Proceeds from the sale of the prints will go to the Summer Meals Program and food insecurity in Tioga County.

Inquiries about joining the Black Cat Gallery can be made through their website, blackcatgalleryowego.com. You can also follow them on Facebook, and Instagram.

The Black Cat Gallery is located at 190 Front St. and is open every day.
