Jazz and chicken at the Depot

On Friday, July 21, the Depot in Newark Valley will host an evening of music by the Jazz Happens Band, and a chicken barbeque as part of the Depot Friday Night schedule.  

The Jazz Happens band is a traditional Dixieland jazz band and has entertained at a variety of locations and events including the Jazz Appreciation Society of Syracuse, the Flower City Jazz Society, Turning Stone Casino and Resort as well as several summer musical festivals in the Southern Tier. Their repertoire includes Dixie, blues and lots of quick stepping jazz that will keep your toes tapping and your fingers snapping.

A chicken barbeque being prepared by the Historical Society “chicken cookers” will also be available at the Depot on the same evening. Serving will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the entertainment starts at 7 p.m.   

Barbeque tickets will be sold by advance sale only and are $8.00. The tickets are available at any of the Depot Friday Night programs or by calling the Newark Valley Historical Society Office at 642-9516 and leaving a contact number on or before July 17.
