Farmers’ Market coupons available for older adults

The Department of Aging at Tioga Opportunities, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program began on July 5. This program puts coupons that can be used at area Farmers’ Markets into the hands of low-income older adults, helping them to maintain or improve their nutritional health.

If you are 60 years of age or older and have a monthly income of $1,860 or less for a one-person household (or $2,504 or less for a two person household), you qualify for a booklet of coupons worth $20. Each eligible individual in a household is able to receive a booklet of coupons.  

Coupons will be available at the following times and locations on a first come, first served basis – Monday, July 17, at the Community Care Network of Nichols, 139 Roki Blvd., Nichols from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; Wednesday, July 19 at North Waverly Chapel, 38 State Route 34, Waverly from 9 to 10 a.m.; Wednesday, July 19 at Open Hearts Dinner, McKendree United Methodist Church, 224 Owego St., Candor from 5 to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, July 26, at INSPIRE S-VE Community and Fitness Center, 57 East Tioga St., Spencer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on Thursday, July 27, at Waverly Free Public Library, 18 Elizabeth St., Waverly, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. 

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupon booklets will also be available at Tioga Opportunities, Inc.’s Countryside Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd. in Owego from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Booklets must be picked up in person and will be available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
