Dairy Princess crowned in Tioga CountyThe 54th Annual Tioga County Dairy Princess Coronation was held recently at the Newark Valley Fire Station. Leah Ludwig, the daughter of Scott and Sharon Ludwig of Newark Valley was crowned the new 2017-2018 Tioga County Dairy Princess by 2016-2017 Dairy Princess Katelyn Eaton, daughter of Paul and Heather Eaton of Owego. 

Serving as Dairy Ambassadors along with Leah will be Arianna and Addison Aman, daughters of Aaron and Becky Aman of Candor, Chelsie Fuller, daughter of Debbie Mitchell of Newark Valley and newcomer to the Dairy Ambassador program, Emily Henry, daughter of Brian and Lillian Henry of Candor. 

Leah attends Newark Valley Center School with future plans to attend college for agriculture business. Her family operates a 275-acre dairy farm on West Creek Road with 100 Holsteins where Leah assists with daily chores. Leah is active in high school sports, volunteers in her community and is active in Zion Lutheran School activities. Leah has been active in dairy promotion for five years serving as Alternate Dairy Princess for two years and as Dairy Ambassador for three years. 

Katelyn Eaton, 2016-2017 Tioga County Dairy Princess, gave her farewell speech before crowning Leah as the new 2017-2018 Tioga County Dairy Princess. 

Dave Wheelock served as Master of Ceremony for the evening. Dinner guests enjoyed the buffet dinner prepared by Country Folks Diner in Richford, N.Y. 

As Tioga County Dairy Promotion begins its 54th year of promotion, the focus continues to be on promoting the dairy industry and developing the lives of these young ladies as they communicate messages about the health and nutritional value of dairy products to audiences of all ages. As a result of the continued commitment of these young ladies, their parents, individual and business supporters, the dairy promotion program continues to be a success.
