The Xcite Wrestling promotion returns to the ring next Saturday, June 3. This time it’s a much different show. The show will be held at NYSEG Stadium, the home of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Class AA affiliate of the New York Mets.
Headlining the big event will be the Xcite World Title match between champion Greg Excellent and Binghamton’s own “The Hybrid” Sean Carr.
WWE Hall of Famer Rickey “The Dragon” Steamboat will serve as the special enforcer for the main event and looks to restore order in the ring.
Steamboat, noted as one of the greatest pro wrestlers of a generation, was a multi-time champion and won the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 3 in front of a then indoor attendance record of 93,173 in Pontiac, Michigan.
Steamboat will be teaching a 4-hour seminar for Pro Wrestling students the following day at Xcite Wrestling’s training school located inside the NYPENN trade center in Johnson City. Steamboat, a scout for the WWE Performance Center, could be looking for the next Pro Wrestling Superstar right here in the 607.
In other matches you will see local favorites Axel Lennox and Robert Cook in tag team action against the Crusade for Change, The Xcite Pony Rumble featuring Lil Daddy, Luke Babcock, and Owego’s own LJ Thomas. Xcite mainstay Joe Gacy will also be in action as he takes on former WWE superstar Colin Delaney.
Front row tickets are sold out, but get the rest while they still last. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the NYSEG box office and will be good for the Rumble Ponies doubleheader. Gates open at 1 p.m. and the wrestling event starts at 2 p.m. The first Rumble Ponies game begins at 5:35 p.m.
