‘Under Our Skin’ to highlight Lyme disease

In honor of Lyme Disease Awareness month, Carantouan Greenway and Valley Lyme disease Support Group are hosting a free showing of the award-winning documentary, Under Our Skin, on May 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sayre Public Library.

Under Our Skin exposes the hidden story of Lyme disease, one of the most serious and controversial epidemics of our time. The Centers for Disease Control estimates more than 300,000 people acquire Lyme disease each year, a number greater than breast cancer and AIDS combined.

Pennsylvania is number one in reported Lyme disease cases in the nation, with over 12,000 cases reported in 2016, and experts are forecasting a major increase in 2017.
