Twin Tiers Honor Flight to hold fundraiser to send veterans on memorable flight

Twin Tiers Honor Flight is hosting its annual spaghetti dinner on Sunday, May 21, from 3 to 6 p.m. at McGirk’s Irish Pub, located at 1 Kattelville Rd. in Binghamton, to help send WWII, Korean, and Vietnam era veterans on the trip of a lifetime.

Last year the honor flight hub raised $10,000 from this event, which helped honor the service of over 50 area veterans by taking them to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials and the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery.

The day was marked by cheering crowds upon arrival in Washington D.C., bands, and a memorable welcome home at the Greater Binghamton Airport. The honor flight hub has tentative plans to fly again on Nov. 11, 2017 contingent on raising sufficient funds to charter a flight.

All members of the community are invited to the spaghetti dinner, which is $10 for adults, $5 for veterans and seniors over 62, and free for children 12 and under. In addition to the dinner there will be baskets available for raffle through the generosity of community businesses.

For more information about the event, individuals should contact Twin Tiers Honor Flight board member and event coordinator Madelyn Lopke at mjlopke@gmail.com.
