Create lasting ‘Memories’ during the 37th annual Strawberry Festival

The 37th Annual Strawberry Festival will be celebrating “Memories” as their theme for this year’s event, which kicks off on Friday, June 16 with a Block Party from 5 to 10 p.m. and then on Saturday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Owego, N.Y.

For the main event on Saturday, the streets in Owego, N.Y. will be filled with vendors and entertainment. With the annual parade stepping off at 10 a.m., the theme of “Memories” will kick in as guests enjoy everything that the festival has to offer.

A personal-event memory is an individual’s memory of an event from a certain moment of time. Its defining characteristics are that of a specific event; it includes vivid recollections sparked by sights, sounds and smells.

The annual festival offers a wide array of activities and flair to enlighten these senses. As guests stroll through the festival, in this quaint village nestled along the Susquehanna River, they can recall past events that remain in their memories, and create new ones as well.

Maybe it is relaxing on a bench in Draper Park, where guests can enjoy the delightful sounds of the music that fills the air. Or maybe it is the smell of warm funnel cakes, or an open grill that is perfecting an entrée by adding onions, or even peppers. Or could it be the colorful display of vendors that line the streets, offering their wares to festivalgoer’s.

The organizers of this year’s festival hope that you build new memories with them during the 37th Annual Strawberry Festival. Here, you will experience a colorful parade strewn with talent and pride that will create a lasting smile for both young and old. On every street you will find delicious and festive food to satisfy your taste buds. This includes the festival favorite of Strawberries in the form of shortcake or daiquiris.

For this year’s festival, there are over a dozen bands that will be performing at three different stages throughout the festival. There will also be street performers who will bring their talents to festivalgoer’s in a display of true public entertainment for all to enjoy. Whether it is rock, pop, jazz, blues or bluegrass music, the festival offers a wide variety of musical entertainment for your listening pleasure.

This year’s festival will also offer entertainment for children and adults as the puppet show brings its marionettes this year, and Animal Adventure Park, who gained recent fame with April the giraffe, will be bringing some of its live animals from the park for guests to enjoy.

New this year is a Digital Circus that will thrill guests with their artistic dance and some traditional magic. The mission of the Digital Circus is to bring a unique and beautiful flow of arts to the masses. There will be vendors galore, offering a wide array of products in a festive fashion.
